My name is David. I came up with the idea for retailing handcrafted ship models online during a trip abroad shortly after graduating from college in 1999. Upon returning I was joined by my friend and former classmate, Matt. Together we formed WoodenModelShips.com with a modest selection of four ship models.

Interestingly enough we started it in the basement of a rented house with a hole in the low ceiling where the Dave Matthews Band once recorded (get it? Dave, Matthew...). Legend has it their drummer made the hole with his head when he had a Eureka moment and abruptly stood up.

Anyway, nearly a decade and thousands of happy customers later (see our testimonials), we continue to provide beautiful ship models and personal service. Orders are now shipped directly from our suppliers or out of our warehouse in Baltimore, Maryland.
